OUR RECOVERY PROGRAM

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

We specialize in offering comprehensive treatment options for individuals struggling with drug addiction in Dallas. Our treatment programs cover a range of substances, including opioids and prescription drugs such as Oxycontin, Oxycodone, Fentanyl, Heroin, and alcohol.

We thoroughly assess the individual’s medical history, substance use disorder, and mental health status to determine the most appropriate treatment options. To address the “whole patient,” we offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which includes the use of FDA-approved medications such as methadone and Suboxone® (Buprenorphine) in combination with counseling and behavioral therapy.

Our treatment approach focuses on effectively reducing symptoms of substance abuse, withdrawal, and cravings, enabling patients to concentrate on making positive changes in their behavior as they undergo addiction treatment.

Medications We Use

Methadone

Methadone is a medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration  (FDA) to treat opioid use disorder (OUD) as a medication-assisted treatment (MAT), as well as for pain management. Methadone helps individuals achieve and sustain recovery from substance use disorder and to reclaim active and meaningful lives. When taken as prescribed, methadone is safe and effective.

Methadone, a long-acting opioid agonist, reduces opioid craving and withdrawal and blunts or blocks the effects of opioids. Methadone, taken daily, is available in liquid, powder, and diskettes forms.

Buprenorphine

Buprenorphine is an opioid partial agonist. When taken as prescribed, buprenorphine is safe and effective. Buprenorphine has unique pharmacological properties that help:

  • Diminish the effects of physical dependency to opioids, such as withdrawal symptoms and cravings
  • Increase safety in cases of overdose
  • Lower the potential for misuse

Naloxone

Naloxone is a medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration  (FDA) designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose. It is an opioid  antagonist—meaning that it binds to opioid receptors and can reverse and  block the effects of other opioids, such as such as heroin, morphine,  and oxycodone. Administered when a patient is showing signs of opioid overdose,  naloxone is a temporary treatment and its effects do not last long.  Therefore, it is critical to obtain medical intervention as soon as possible after administering/receiving naloxone.

There are many benefits to Medication-assisted treatment. Evidence from research shows that medication and therapy can successfully treat opioid addiction, and for some people suffering from addiction, MAT can help maintain long-term recovery. In other instances, MAT is also used to prevent or reduce the chances of an overdose. The combination of approved medication with professional counseling is considered the Gold Standard for the treatment of opioid addiction.

MAT is primarily used to treat addiction to opioids such as heroin and prescription pain relievers that contain opiates. The prescribed medications, such as Methadone or Suboxone, are designed to balance brain chemistry, relieve physiological cravings, block the euphoric effects of alcohol and opioids, and restore healthy body functions without the negative and euphoric effects of the substance used.

There is often a lack of knowledge of the setting and method of treatment that may lead to a lack of support from friends or family. Our facilities are known as  Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs). They are certified by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the state in which operated.

MAT Texas is staffed by licensed nurses, therapists, and board-certified physicians that work as a team in supervised assessment and treatment, using methadone, buprenorphine, or naltrexone, of individuals who have opioid use disorders.

Individuals struggling with substance abuse and opioid addiction can receive treatment through FDA-approved medications such as methadone and Suboxone® (Buprenorphine), counseling, and behavioral therapy. These medications effectively ease withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings, enabling patients to focus on positively changing their behavior. This comprehensive approach to opioid addiction treatment in Dallas, TX, has proven successful in helping patients recover.

Many insurance plans cover medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance abuse and addiction, including opioids. This means that individuals seeking treatment may be able to access MAT without incurring significant out-of-pocket expenses. It’s important to check with your insurance provider to understand the coverage details and any potential limitations.
